SCRAP SATURDAY

To win a pile of scraps, leave a comment here with a link to your blog or website, and tell us something exciting you have planned for the holiday season, whether it is an art project you plan to work on, a family gathering you plan to attend, a trip you plan to take, etc.. I'll pick a winner next Saturday using a random number generator. Good luck!!

I'm planning on putting the "Floor of Spain" blocks into a quilt and mailing it to my friend Maribel in Spain. Also, I'm participating in National Novel Writing Month this month and I'm excited about my story. I've done over 12,000 words so far and I'm on track to "Win" (write 50,000 words before the end of November).

And check out this Quilt Block Party - it looks like it will be a lot of fun.

11/14/2009: UPDATE: SandyQuilts won the scraps. Thanks to everyone for contributing to the comments. Check back the first Saturday in December for another Scrap Saturday giveaway.

More scraps? Well, I need motivation for a scrappy quilt that is in my mind. Anyway, for the holidays, we have Christmas here, with our adult kids, then my BH and I are going south for a whole month. Snowbirds we are. This is the first time we have planned this, and I get to take my sewing machine and computer! He will be golfing and I still don't know which projects to take (and the destination has some classes), but I am getting excited.

My blog you know: http://elsiequilts.blogspot.com

I covet your scraps and would dearly love to add them to my stash for making pieces with a collage technique that I call "ortwork" ("orts" is the British term for scraps).

A holiday activity for me will be seeing the largest piece I've ever created in my "ortwork" collage technique unveiled in the lobby at the grand opening of the new Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois on December 15th. This 14'x 10'installation features a field of prairie flowers. To read about and to see photos of my process, click on the "Prairie Flower" label in the sidebar of my blog.

Would love to win those scraps. It is not exactly for the holiday season, but I am so excited. I get to take a class from John Flynn. I am going to do the Wheel of Mystery. Can't wait.

That looks like a lovely set of scraps. Anything exciting? I'm sure I will meet with family, and go through the crazy hectic buying / making a gift rush, but otherwise I plan to take it easy.

What deliciously colourful scraps.

Thanksgiving... bliss a whole week off from 6.30am starts - what person decided to punish parents of High School kids with a 7.25am start?

I think we might have a double celebration with an early birthday party for my soon to be 15 year old son with his best friends so he doesn't miss out if we go home to the UK. Sorry Will I didn't mean you to be a Christmas pressie for me!

I love scraps! I'm right now in the midst of making my only daughter a quilt for her twin bed. She's a tween who loves cows (don't ask me why!) and its a calendar cow quilt. I've only given myself 8 weeks to design and make it so its a challenge but I'm enjoying the process immensely! I'll be sewing right up till the day I'm sure - two cows down and 10 to go!

I am a scrapaholic so I'd love to win those scraps. We will have all the kids and grandkids over for Christmas so it will be crowded, noisy and fun.

Holidays are spent either with my Oregon family..husband and three grown children and their SO's or I am called back to my island home in Alaska where I care for my aging and ailing parents and celebrate all the holi-days that I can with them. Last Christmas, I'd been there for 2 months and they were too sick for me to leave yet, using air miles, weird flights and borrowed monies, I got all 6 remaining family members up there through the worst snowstorm conditions the Portland airport had ever seen. My family were on 4 separate flights, circled Juneau for 45 minutes without being able to land, slept either in Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Sitka, and all arrived within 3 days of each other. We had a fabulous few remaining days together, anyway! Put me in the draw, I sew only from scraps and almost everything is donated to fabulous causes. I'd most likely use use these lovelies for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative where I donate art postcards. Count me in, they look like fabulous fun!

These would make a great addition to the spider web quilt I'm making now, or some other string quilts. My holiday plans are mainly about lying on the couch, recovering from minor surgery scheduled the week before Christmas. I'm hoping I feel well enough to hand quilt, but not quite up to the housework or meal prep!

I'd use those scraps in the spider web quilt I'm making or a string quilt for the children's hospital. My holiday highlight is recovering from surgery -- on the couch, under a snuggly quilt, feeling just well enough to hand quilt, but not quite up to cooking and cleaning!

I'm a charity quilter and scrap is my middle name.

This Thanksgiving will be special for us. DD#2 is bringing home her guy who is "THE ONE". We may have a more festive occassion to celebrate in the near future. Fingers crossed.

Looks like a bunch of lovely scraps!
I'll cross my finger for winning this :)

My plan (and the kids) is having a christmas holiday, maybe about a week of travelling 2 cities. We're so excited because my hubby is going home on mid Dec after a year studying in Holland.
