ATCs: Life = Journey

I love this purple yarn. Here is my next batch of 12 ATCs. I gesso-ed on the words: "Life = Journey." I gessoed on some beads.

Inspirational Word(s) of 2010

I made this using fabric and cotton batting, stitching squares and strips of fabric together directly onto the batting. Then I cut the fabric collage down to 11.5"x11.5" and used a new polka-dot stencil I got from a quilt show vendor Stewart Gill, and stenciled on a bunch of dots using black gesso, white gesso, copper, gold and silver paints (Golden Fluid Acrylics), etc. Then I used matte gel medium to tack on the words and symbols I had drawn on white paper using markers (yes, they bled) and then added some more dots and then re-worked the ink on the words and symbols.

Postcards

Here are some postcards for January. The theme is bird/yellow. I decided to do a theme of "exotic" birds (probably not really exotic but the names sound exotic). I used fabric and batting and free-motion-stitched the background, then added strips of fabric and some yarn.
I printed some photos of birds from the internet after trying to manipulate the images since my printer is out of red ink right now - that's why the birds all look green. And printed out the words and used matte gel medium to paste the paper to the fabric. It works beautifully and when it dries, it doesn't look like there's any adhesive on there at all. It just looks like the paper is somehow magically attached to the fabric.

Bits and Pieces

I'm callling this "Bits and Pieces 1." It's a fiber collage with some paint and yarn and shell beads. It's about 5"x7."
